The Way

The language of the benevolent
And the movement of the merciful

Laws of Motion
Producing poetry

Raining down from
Forms so heavenly

And the rain can
Erode anything

Making streams
And rivers out of
States and cities

Yes, the rain
Can erode anything

What fish can
Swim against
The stream?

What wave
Disobey the tide?

Who dare rebel
Against the lunar gravity
That pulls the earth
Into its majesty?

And each drop
Contains a miracle

Streams and rivers
Rise into a Wave

Welcoming in the Way
With water spirit musicals

The Way is in
The transformations
Of a turtle's shell

Or the ringing of
A steeple's bell

Mysteries in synchronicity
With rise and fall of Dynasty

Devote thine self to holy struggle

Speak to me
Oh glorious poesy

To the rabble give delivery
To providence and destiny

  1. This is so beautiful and majestic! Wow, I have to say your writing is truly one of a kind. ❤ I also really enjoyed this stanza:

    "What fish can
    Swim against
    The stream?

    What wave
    Disobey the tide?"

Just brilliant, spiritual, and visceral poetry. It's amazing.

    1. This is a really encouraging comment Lucy! I’m glad that you liked it so much and gave it such a close reading. The section you quoted was a bit of a turning point in the writing of the poem, and helped give me clarity for the direction I would eventually take the rest of the poem in.
